The Portuguese EASI group was organized and is active since 2008.
Our mission has been to establish a national network including Clinical Pathologists, Internal Medicine clinicians and other professional groups from the public and private sectors dedicated to the diagnostics and treatment of autoimmune diseases.

Following the main goals of the International EASI group our objectives are:

• To promote communication and partnership between expert clinicians and laboratory professionals in the autoimmunity field.
• To develop initiatives concerning procedure harmonization which warrant high standards of healthcare.
• To elaborate and disseminate standard operating procedures (SOP) regarding all phases of the analytical cycle in autoimmune disease diagnostics and monitoring, namely: criteria for requesting diagnostic tests, analytical algorithms and quality control measures, result reporting and interpretation.
