Die GFID e.V. wurde 2002 von Ärzten und Wissenschaftlern in Dresden gegründet und steht allen deutschsprachigen Interessenten offen. Das Ziel ist die Förderung der Diagnostik von Erkrankungen mit pathologischen Immunreaktionen oder gestörter Immunregulation auf den Ebenen Gesundheitspolitik, Labormedizin und klinisch-angewandte Forschung.

Die GFID e.V. will mit ihrer Tätigkeit dazu beitragen, dass mehr Patienten mit immunologisch bedingten Krankheiten eine frühzeitige Diagnostik und adäquate Therapie ermöglicht werden kann.

Hauptaktivitäten der GFID e.V. sind die Veröffentlichung von Büchern sowie die Organisation und Durchführung von Tagungen und Projekten.
